WHAT WE DO AND WHY WE DO IT

Firstly, there’s an enormous misconception that disposable coffee cups can be easily recycled. They are lined with polyethylene and therefore can only be recycled if the tightly bonded plastic lining is removed, which cannot be done at standard recycling points. In the whole of the UK, there are only 3 special facilities capable of recycling disposable coffee cups. In the UK 500 coffee cups are thrown away per minute. That’s 2.5 billion each year.

At 1CUP, we care about our Earth and her oceans and green spaces and do not want to see them destroyed by the excessive amounts of waste currently produced. We all saw a great solution in the re-useable coffee cup and have all been avid users, yet, always found a problem in their inconvenient shape and size -too often resulting in their loss or abandonment. We were stumped. Then came 1CUP. An ideal solution as when you have finished drinking, you can shake, collapse, seal and put it pack into your bag or pocket. The fact it is so effortless to transport and convenient to carry is what makes it such a spectacular product.

Our mission is to get people using their 1CUPs at every opportunity, saving them money while saving the planet (hassle-free). Through our campaign we have endeavoured to raise awareness for plastic waste, raising money for the environmental charity sea life and posting climate-change related articles and videos on our social media. To us 1CUP is not just a business, it's a welcomed obligation to fight the problem of waste
